8 Festive Christmas Day Dining Options in Maine

Still got some Thanksgiving leftovers fermenting in the fridge? Does the thought of hosting another holiday meal give you the turkey sweats? Maybe it would be wise to leave Christmas to the professionals. A limited number of Maine restaurants are open Christmas Day, most of them with special menus.

We've highlighted eight options for eating out on Xmas, from Cape Neddick to Camden. But be warned, spaces fill up quickly. Don't wait until Christmas Eve to make reservations.

One might start with the trio of Quebec foie gras (seared on apple compote, terrine with brioche, and praline with sauternes jelly), then select the roasted, free-range venison loin on a winter root vegetable stew and Maine blueberry sauce with creamy polenta, and for dessert go with the chocolate fig delice with milk chocolate mousse and port wine-glazed figs.
