Out with the old, in with the new — as Petite Jacqueline seeks its next home, OCHO Burrito, barely six months old, is expanding into the French bistro's former digs at 190 State Street in Portland. The takeout concept, from the owners of local pizza chain OTTO, "has grown to be bigger than the current space allows," according to a company spokesperson.
With diverse, rotating offerings like a Moroccan chicken and quinoa combo or the "Reubenesque" with corned beef, OCHO has been accused by many of being less a "burrito" place than a wrap shop. Love it or hate it, "expect the same OCHO take on the burrito, only with full service, an expanded menu, and alcohol" at the upgraded location, which should open in the first quarter of 2016.
Will the nearby original venue at 654 Congress Street remain an OCHO outpost, become a new venture from the same owners, or hit the market again? "TBD," the company said.
