Forget the pumpkin spice lattes and the artificial flavors that so often mark the arrival of fall these days. If you want to get a true taste of autumn in the morning, stop by The Holy Donut and try the Maine Apple Donut. Owner Leigh Kellis explains that it's the chunks of real Maine apples that separate her version from apple cider donuts typically found at orchards throughout the state, which incorporate cider and spices. Of course there's also the The Holy Donut's signature ingredient: Maine potatoes, which give these cake donuts an utterly moist consistency.
Check out the staff working hard to crank out these seasonal confections. Kellis has given her team the day off on Thursday, September 24th for employee appreciation day, but both the Park Avenue and Exchange Street locations will be open again on Friday, September 25, fulfilling your fried dough desires.
