The owner of Bad Dog Deli takes over Oscar's old digs.

Replacing Oscar's New American at 305 U.S. Route 1 in Yarmouth, Dirigo Public House opened last Wednesday. Owner Ben Grant is also behind Bad Dog Deli in Scarborough; his wife and co-owner Katie Grant runs K Grant Design. Their new restaurant has a focus on craft beer and "elevated pub and comfort food," according to the official website.

Chef Chris McCollom's menu is concise, with six starters including a Scotch egg and cider brined wings; seven meat- and fish-heavy entrees like a shrimp po' boy (also the only main dish with a "vegetarian option also available") and steak tips; a few classic salads; and three smaller options "for the wee ones." Ben told The Forecaster, "We want families to come here and gather. Anybody's welcome here."

Open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4 to 9 p.m., Friday to Saturday 4 to 10 p.m.
