This would be Maine's second island brewery after Monhegan Brewing Company on Monhegan Island, which is launching a beer called "15" on Friday, "brewed in celebration of the fifteen year-round island communities on the Maine coast," according to a press release from the Island Institute. The beer will also be available at screenings for the institute's film A Climate of Change August 11 at FOG Bar and Cafe in Rockland and August 12 at SPACE Gallery in Portland.
Update, 8/3/15: Ben Lovell confirmed for Eater that he and partners Elizabeth Lovell and Jesse Davisson are working on launching North Haven Brewing Company in the basement of Calderwood Hall by spring 2016. "Liz is currently the inn keeper at Nebo Lodge and Jesse is a lobsterman in the island's fleet," he explained. He added, "We have been very encouraged by all the community excitement around the project."
