Portland's endless craving for great fried chicken could be satisfied today as Figgy's Takeout and Catering opens its doors (or windows) with a limited soft opening menu. Owner Natalie "Figgy" DiBenedetto originally planned on naming the establishment Skillet and soft opening in early May. She's still looking for help in the kitchen.
Enjoy crispy, juicy, cast iron skillet-fried chicken, biscuits, wings, potato salad, and slaw, then finish it off with a homemade ice cream sandwich from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (or until everything sells out). No late night plans for now out of respect for the neighbors, but The Forecaster reports a food truck may address that issue "down the road." Figgy's will have its intro menu through this Saturday, with the full menu available next week.
