Food writer Malcolm Bedell completes his transformation to food producer tomorrow with the soft launch of anticipated, Kickstarted sandwich truck 'Wich, Please. According to the Facebook announcement, you could be one of Bedell's first guinea pigs if you stop by Buoy Park at 8 a.m. Bedell got a city ordinance changed to allow a third truck to join Pho Sizzle and Duo's Seafood at the park, but rumor has it Duo's will not return this year after all.
The breakfast sandwich — served until 10:30 a.m. — will have a deep-fried salt-brined pork chop, american cheese, fried egg, scallions, and spicy sambal mayo on a roll for $6. For vegetarians, there's The Reubenesque, which offers roasted sliced beets, melted swiss cheese, morse's sauerkraut, and russian dressing on rye bread.
Check the company's website for the full spring menu, which could be available by Memorial Day weekend. And be sure to follow the correct Facebook page for updates: turns out there's a Wich Please in India, too, whose slogan is "Y U NO EAT SANDWICH !!!" Got a nice ring to it, but it won't do you much good in Rockland.
