Two new food businesses are set to open on tiny Badger's Island in Kittery, just a stone's throw from the thriving Foreside neighborhood as well as Portsmouth, NH. Kate's Bakery and Cafe should be offering breakfast and lunch by Memorial Day at 1 Badger's Island West, according to Seth Gooby of Kitterific.
Kate's to be open by Memorial Day. Was told, "She's the best baker I have ever seen!" 1 Badgers island @EaterMaine pic.twitter.com/DfpFV3LaZh

The bakery's neighbor at 2 Badger's Island West is hiring on Craigslist for all kitchen positions. Seacoast Online spoke with Blind Pig Provisions' owners, chefs Mike Prete and Matt Greco, who also run the Sandwich Kings food truck, The Kitchen, and Portsmouth Catering Co. in Portsmouth; those spots are also seeking staff. The chefs said they expect to be open by early June. An online menu advertises chicken and waffles with "rum'd local birch syrup." That dish served in the riverside beer garden could draw serious crowds this summer.
Look out for The Blind Pig, coming soon to Kittery or is it Badger's Island? pic.twitter.com/8IIi4AaK9W
