Glorious news for fans of a cold treat on a hot day: Old Port shop Gorgeous Gelato co-owner Donato Giovine confirmed for Eater that the company's food cart would return to Fort Williams Park this year after a two season hiatus. "This summer, we will have our gorgeous cart right next to Portland Head Light," Giovine exclaimed. This will put the cart in the thick of the action, near one of the state's most iconic lighthouses as well as popular lobster roll truck Bite Into Maine. Look for the cart from late May until the end of September, with the exception of occasional Saturdays when the company caters weddings.

Giovine's wife and co-owner Mariagrazia Zanardi told the Sentry in 2013 that they decided not to renew their license because of location, location, location. "The place where we were located [near the Shore Road entrance to the park] wasn't close to the others, or to the lighthouse...we decided it's not worth it." In 2012, the Italian couple paid $3,995 for its unsatisfying license. This year it cost them $4,650, but Giovine is optimistic about its value. "We hope to sell tons of gelato to residents, tourists, and visitors from all over the world," he said.
