The Velveteen Habit concept is finally becoming reality. The anticipated restaurant, located in the former home of Arrows at 37 Ogunquit Rd. on Cape Neddick, will open Friday, April 17. Dinner will be served from Tuesday to Sunday 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are now available on OpenTable or by phone at (207) 216-9884.

For anyone looking to get a sneak peek of the property and sample some snacks, the business is accepting RSVPs until March 26 for a "Grand Social Media Tour" to take place on Saturday, March 28. A Facebook contest is also running through March 31 for anyone willing to share short stories about what they consider "perfect" service. The prize "may or may not involve a preview dinner." Go even further behind the scenes by applying for a job via the official website.

According to a recent press release, The Velveteen Habit plans to source about 70% of its produce from a one-acre kitchen garden located on the grounds. Chef Chris Wilcox will also "incorporate the methods of a traditional 18th century farmhouse with whole on-premise butchery, extensive curing and fermenting," and feature nightly shared items "such as a 32-ounce Porterhouse steak."
