Opening Alert: Square Tail Brewing Co. Serving Beers in Amherst

Co-owner and head brewer of Square Tail Brewing Co., Wes Ellington, predicted a public premiere "sometime late February to early March," and he was correct. Square Tail opened their tasting room last Friday with three beers on tap: Lazy Paddle Milk Stout, Mooned Loon Pale Ale, and Caddis Fly Wheat Ale, according to Bangor Daily News, who checked out the brewery before they unlocked their doors.

Ellington described his creations in an early Eater interview, saying:

Our beers have a very British background, but we are not solely focused on these styles. We try to mix a lot of traditional British ales in with some eccentric ideas. We brew other things such as Kolsches as well, so obviously we are not looking to be labeled under one genre.

Square Tail Brewing Co. is located at 22 Mill Ln., Amherst. Hours are: Friday, 5 p.m - 9 p.m., Saturday, 2 p.m - 8 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m - 8 p.m.
