While most restaurants are currently rolling out plans for New Year's Eve celebrations, upcoming Sunday River addition Rockin' and Roastin' Cafe and Restaurant — At the Mountain has announced it will open instead on New Year's Day, January 1, 2016, with a live performance hosted by co-owner and Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer.

Kramer's restaurant, named for his organic coffee roasting company and in collaboration with former Boston Red Sox vice chairman Les Otten, was announced in October and hoped to open this month. It's undergoing renovations at the former home of Phoenix House and Well at 9 Timberline Drive in Newry, and it's still hiring "Rockin' and Roastin' Roadies."

Tickets to ring in the new year with blues musicians The James Montgomery Band and The Uptown Horns are available now for $55 — and though Kramer told the Bangor Daily News "a concert from the rock legends [Aerosmith] is highly unlikely," the promise of "some very special surprise guests" may be hard for optimistic fans to pass up. It could also be the ski mountain's major draw in a season currently bereft of solid snowfall.
