Building on the success of their Old Port location, local b.good franchisees Bill Zolper and his father Ben are opening a second Maine outpost in South Portland's Maine Mall area today. Replacing short-lived Gourmaine at 200 Gorham Road, b.good joins Olive Garden and underrated Indian restaurant Taj. Local chain OTTO also has a spot nearby, as does national powerhouse Chipotle.

Known for its burgers, New England-grown b.good is "much more than that," according to Zolper, as it offers "real food from real people" with hearty kale and grain bowls, seasonal salads, even turkey burgers. The restaurant has a reputation for working closely with local farmers and producers to source its goods, which is unusual for chains. Expect the same menu and hours as the Portland locale, open Monday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
