The growing food hub of Kittery Foreside sees a switcheroo as Bill's Original Kitchen opens for lunch and dinner today. The new business at 1 Government Street replaces Stella's Sweet Cafe, which closed in September. Bill's is run by chef/owner Bill Clifford, who has worked previously at Portland Harbor Hotel and Mercy Hospital.
The company's Facebook description promises, "BOK is a unique concept where the chef prepares the meal, helps match the beverages and serves." Good Chemistry Foods, a gluten- and dairy-free food business run by Jennifer Briggs in Exeter, NH, posted on Facebook that it was collaborating on the "allergen friendly" restaurant and said that Clifford himself is gluten-free.
A sneak peek at a crab and Boursin waffle dish appears to have been cut from the opening menu, shared by a Twitter tipster. Another set of preview photos appeared this morning, noting that "ALL menu items have gluten free options." Dishes include PEI mussels (caution: autoplay video with sound) with chorizo and vermouth ($11), seared swordfish ($12), a half-pound Angus burger ($12 or $14 with fried egg), and a Chambord drizzled chocolate waffle ($6). No word on full hours yet, and Eater couldn't reach anyone at the listed phone number by press time.
Looking for a new restaurant....well look no further. Bread options include a fresh gluten and dairy free waffle and many dairy free options. 1 Government Street in Kittery
