Originally Saco-based, Vincenza's Italian Bakery opened a second location in downtown Portland three months ago. Less than a month later, the Saco shop closed. The company explained on its Facebook page that "there was not enough traffic to keep the doors open." Two months later, a For Lease sign appeared in the window at 10 Exchange Street in the Old Port.
The company has not responded to request for comment, and the phone numbers listed on its website and Facebook page produce endless rings. Has Vincenza's fallen victim to the Wannawaf maneuver, bleeding profits from its original location in an attempt to break into the enticing yet challenging Portland market?
