Beer Camp Attracts Additional Events

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are four choice events happening to celebrate the arrival of Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp Across America. Tell us in the comments where you're headed:

1) Beer & Cheese at Rising Tide
When: Thursday, July 31, 5 to 7 p.m.
Where: Rising Tide Brewing Company
What: Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp Across America hits Portland this Friday, and the city's businesses are capitalizing on the expected influx of craft-crazed tourists with a number of related events. Start your weekend off right for $15, which nets you a flight of four Rising Tide beers paired with four New England cheeses paired expertly by Vermont's Beer and Cheese Maven, Ruth Miller. La Creme Chocolat will also be selling a la carte truffles, including one made with Maine's favorite local beer, Maine Island Trail Ale.

2) Beer Camp Block Party at Sebago
When: Thursday, July 31, 6 to 11 p.m.
Where: Sebago Downtown
What: Next up, and within walking distance of the previous event, Sebago Brewing Company's downtown Portland pub will be hosting a welcome party for the influential beer figures coming to town for the main event. All twelve of the Beer Camp mix pack collaborations will be on draft, and proceeds from each beer sold will benefit the Maine Brewers Guild.

3) Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp Across America
When: Friday, August 1, 5 to 10 p.m.
Where: Thompson's Point, Portland
What: The New England edition of the largest traveling beer festival in history, to which every brewery in America was invited. Portland has the most number signed up, over 100, even if a few have backed out for one reason or another. For $65, guests have access to brewers pouring samples limited only by the amount of beer on hand, varieties of which number in the hundreds. Plenty of food trucks will be helping drinkers set a good base, while MarchFourth Marching Band will set a lively soundtrack. Go revel in America's unbelievable craft beer scene with thousands of other fanatics.

4) Brewers Hangover Brunch
When: Saturday, August 2, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Slab
What: Hosted by Sierra Nevada and Allagash, Slab puts on its first brunch event. Don't expect it to become a trend quite yet, but eat (and drink) off your hangover with some of the faces you'll barely remember from the night before. Breakfast slabs with an egg on top, perhaps?
