When asked to comment on the existence of a Spanish pizzeria with a nearly identical logo, a representative of OTTO Pizza remarked, "It definitely isn't affiliated with us. It's strange. We also have found another pizza place called Fetta [Specialty Pizza in Kentucky] that is using our menu pretty much word for word. Same naming conventions and red pie/white pie labeling."
If OTTO seems nonplussed about these revelations, perhaps it's because the company itself has been caught on the other side of plagiarism accusations before. Multiple readers reminded us of a two-year-old story we're deeply embarrassed to have forgotten: Celebrity chef Mario Batali lashed out when he discovered the striking similarities between OTTO Pizza and his own OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria in NYC and Vegas. OTTO Pizza responded to at the time that any similarities were completely unintentional. Eater awaits the arrival of a parody pizzeria called OLLO.
