Plywood Equals Progress at The Portland Food Co-op

Grocery store and cafe The Portland Food Co-op started construction at 290 Congress St. and has the Facebook photos to prove it. The organization has existed since 2006, but has operated on a warehouse and pick-up style system—this new establishment will be their first foray into a retail store. PFC states their goal is to "create a lively, warm, and welcoming space for people to gather and to get the best local, natural, and organic foods."

With construction starting now, the group predicts a fall opening for the store/cafe.
