1) Pocket Cruise
When: Thursday, July 10
Where: Aboard Frances in Casco Bay
What: Sorry for getting your hopes up: Tickets for tonight's first monthly Pocket Cruise are sold out. Join the Pocket Brunch mailing list, though, and find out about the next event in a more timely fashion.
2) Home Cooked Comedy Tour
When: Friday, July 11, 5 to 10 p.m.
Where: Rising Tide Brewing Company
What: Four southern California transplants return to their east coast roots on this comedy tour. From 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Small Axe Truck will be feeding the hungry masses; tickets for the 8:00 p.m. show, which include a Rising Tide beer, are $10 at the door.
3) July Flea Bites!
When: Friday, July 11, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Portland Flea-For-All
What: Monthly night market and street food fest featuring seven food trucks plus vintage, handmade, and antiques dealers. Don't miss the special appearance of chef Damian Sansonetti of Piccolo as he partners with chef Matt Brown on the Good Shepherd Food Truck, the first in a Flea Bites guest series Brown has organized to benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank.
4) Shipyard Summer Festival
When: Saturday, July 12, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Maine State Pier
What: Announced back in May, Shipyard Brewing Co. is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a free day-long concert including headliners Rustic Overtones, featuring a Shipyard beer garden and a food truck fleet.
5) Donut and Poptart Pop-Up
When: Sunday, July 13, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: East Ender
What: The team behind Stacked Donuts and Trademark Tarts, who combined concepts to form Party of Two, are busting out of Boston for a 10-day national tour. Stephanie Cmar and Justin Burke-Samson, the dynamic donut duo and poptart pop-up professionals, will be selling their goodies for $3 a piece (cash only) at the East Ender, invading Portland just in time for brunch.
6) Bastille Day Celebration
When: Sunday, July 13, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Petite Jacqueline
What: Oyster shucking by Nonesuch Oysters, French wine from Nicolas Wines, chef Fred Eliot's "The French Connection" hot dog from Blue Rooster Food Co.'s guest chef series, merguez baguette sandwiches, crepe station, seasonal salads, pétanque, face-painting, and more...and aside from the additional raw bar, it's all you can eat. 7) World Cup Final
When: Sunday, July 13, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. (depending on overtime)
Where: Various locations
What: Germany goes head-to-head with Argentina in a Europe vs. South America final. Where will you be watching? Slab with pizza and pints? Salvage with growlers and brisket?
