Over a year after Colucci's Hilltop Market was ravaged by arson and closed for good, the denizens of Munjoy Hill again have multiple neighborhood grocery options. Hilltop Superette opens today in the former Colucci's location, just in time for the July 4 crowds. General manager Nate Philbrick has promised both The Forecaster and Press Herald that Hilltop will offer something for everyone, including "everything they had before and then some."
The shop will mimic its predecessor in many ways, offering much of the convenience and perhaps pricing of a typical supermarket as well as deli-fare like Italians and pizza, while also incorporating upscale elements of neighboring Rosemont Market, such as locally-sourced meat and craft beer. Yes, Colucci's famous Italian sausages will be available as well. The hours listed on Hilltop's Facebook page are Sunday to Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
