The Rockland processing plant for Linda Bean's lobster was cited by the Food and Drug Administration for "serious violations of federal seafood safety," according to Bangor Daily News. The plant has not been shut down, and its manager is seeking scientific evidence from the UMaine Cooperative Extension to validate the safety of the plant's procedures. (The plant's processing methods came under fire from PETA last year.) Linda Bean's latest outpost, the Lobster Boat Cafe, opened at the Maine Mall just weeks ago; the warning letter from the FDA was sent to the company in February. [BDN]
