1) Industrial Way: A recent edition of Boston Globe column "99 Bottles" focuses on Bissell Brothers Brewing Co., relating its coveted, hop-forward flagship IPA, The Substance Ale, to Vermont brewery The Alchemist's double IPA Heady Topper, which consistently ranks as the top beer in the world on beer ratings sites. Whether the similarities between the two hard-to-come-by canned beers are coincidental or not, author Gary Dzen concludes that "both are worth the drive."
2) Saco: Saco's latest brewery, Barreled Souls Brewing Co., has shared updated photos in its Facebook album "Making Progress," including tasting room development and the "beginnings of one of the garden beds," in which the owners plan to grow ingredients for use in their barrel-fermented beers.
3) Kittery: The new venture from former Portsmouth Brewing Co. head brewer Tod Mott, Tributary Brewing Co., has also posted pictures to Facebook of construction on two entrances to the building, one of which is a tasting room entrance. The captions make tongue-in-cheek reference to the lack of a set completion date, referring to one entryway as a "grand opening."
