Riverside Grill is targeting a late May opening at the Riverside Golf Course in Portland, according to its website. Photos on Facebook show construction is underway with a new concrete bar being poured and a kitchen hood going in. Steve Quattrucci, the original chef/owner of the Back Bay Grill and the food service manager for the City of Portland, will be the chef. This will not be the usual 19th hole spot to grab a beer and generic burger or club sandwich. Instead, it will have a large, locally-sourced menu that should appeal not just to golfers but locals seeking a new dining option as well.
Riverside Grill will be open seven days a week, with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The bar will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The sample menus on the website show items like Bangs Island mussels in Sichuan pepper pan sauce with Bissell Brothers ale (the brewery is located right down the street), poached Casco Bay haddock with zucchini chips, parmesan, olive oil and lemon, and a shepherd's pie made with local North Star Farm lamb.
