Over the past couple weeks, voting in the Maine Madness Beer Tournament has narrowed the field from 64 to the Final 4. Eater Maine is serving as the host site for the semifinal and championship rounds. Voting begins RIGHT NOW in the semifinals, pitting IPA No. 1 seed Maine Beer Company Lunch vs. Seasonal No. 1 seed Rising Tide Maine Island Trail Ale in one match-up and Dark/Strong No. 9 seed Allagash Curieux vs. Ale No. 2 seed Maine Beer Company Peeper in the other. Voting will close at 8 p.m. tonight. Tonight's winners will face off in the championship round on Monday.
Blogger Dave Patterson, one of the tournament's creators, has been chronicling each round. He writes, "The Maine Madness Beer Tournament is a March Madness, bracket-style competition designed to celebrate the abundance of great beer made in Maine." The bracket is divided into four categories (or "regions"): IPAs, Ales, Seasonals, and Darks and Strongs. Beers were pitted against each other according to seed (check out the full bracket and previous round results). "It's our hope to crown a 'Best Beer in Maine' and expand the palates of voters," Patterson said. Now, to the voting:
