The Food & Wine "People's Best New Chef" award winners were announced today, with Matthew MacCartney of Rhode Island taking home the honor in the New England region. He edged out nine other competitors, including Maine contenders Cara Stadler of Tao Yuan and defending champs Andrew Taylor and Mike Wiley of Eventide Oyster Co. and Hugo's. Stadler was named a "Best New Chef" by the F&W editors yesterday. [Food & Wine]
