Miyake Diner is dead and gone, and chef Masa Miyake's former business partner Will Garfield appears to have cancelled plans to start his own venture in the West End space, plans which, at one time, included Joe Ricchio.
The update comes via Portland Food Map, which found that Matt Chamberlain has leased the little building at 129 Spring St. to use as a base for his catering operation, Home, and to sell prepared foods, beer, and wine to go. "Chamberlain hopes to be open by mid-February," the blog indicated.
Chamberlain broke the news via Instagram; the chef is a Portland native who makes "upscale comfort food with personality," according to his profile on the Live Work Portland blog. He was also voted Eater Maine's "Hottest Chef 2013," which is likely a major selling point in the private chef industry.
