Bonos Pizzeria Grille, which opened in the former Ricetta's space in South Portland in April with U2 references on the menu and website, has already closed up shop. A sign on the door provided few details, reading: "Sorry- We have had to close. Thank You to our Loyal Customers." Bonos (no, the apostrophe is not missing — it is a Latin word) opened with an inventive menu and promised a "totally unique" restaurant, but the early reviews were Zooropa-like.
This is the second Portland-area restaurant to close recently after a very short time. The Compass Rose on Fore Street in Portland closed last month after only a few weeks in business.
