Portland no longer lacks in barbecue options. [Photo collage: Tom Minervino]
The Portland area is in the midst of a pretty impressive restaurant/bar/eatery boom. Once lacking in barbecue, the last year has brought Buck's Naked BBQ, Elsmere BBQ & Wood Grill and Salvage BBQ. The doughnut scene has never looked so good, with Tony's Donut Shop opening a South Portland location, Little Bigs opening, also in SoPo, to rave reviews, and the Holy Donut planning to open a second location, this one in the Old Port, very soon. Bars specializing in craft beer and/or cocktails have proliferated rapidly in the past six months, with more in the works. With Empire Chinese Kitchen, Portland now has a dim sum spot. For a small city, Portland has plenty of eating options.
But here's the question posed to you, the readers: What type of restaurant (or bar) could Portland still use? Even with the established standbys, recent additions and new places in the works, what is Portland lacking? Please let us know in the comments, or shoot us an email.
