Erin French, who abruptly shuttered her popular The Lost Kitchen in Belfast in April (hinting at return at the time), then converted a vintage Airstream into a mobile kitchen to serve pop-up dinners during the summer, announced on The Lost Kitchen Facebook page that restaurant's comeback is in the works in the tiny Waldo County town of Freedom:
It's official!!! The Lost Kitchen has found a new home within The Mill at Freedom Falls. We are excited to be spending the fall and winter seasons fitting out our new cafe and market place within the old grist mill in Freedom village. We look forward to sharing the progress with you along the way and to opening our doors to you come spring! Putting Freedom on the map... a.k.a. Freedom FOUND!
The historic mill is being restored and the restaurant will join The Mill School and the offices of the Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets in the building.
