As first reported by Portland Food Map, Black Cat Coffee opened for business this morning. The coffee shop moved into the space that formerly housed Good Eats Boutique and fills a need in the Deering Center neighborhood that is chock full of teachers and students. It's located along a mile-long, school-saturated stretch of Stevens Avenue where a person could conceivably attend preschool through graduate school without ever leaving, probably needing a few cups of coffee during the process.
Husband-and-wife owners Keith Dunlap and Jenny Siler are locally sourcing their products, featuring Matt's Wood Roasted Coffee, Union Bagel Co. bagels, Standard Baking baked goods, The Holy Donut donuts, Our Sweet Tooth cupcakes and gluten-free offerings from Bam Bam Bakery. There's free WiFi. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
