EAST END— Rising Tide Brewing Company's Maine Island Trail Ale debuts tonight at Portland Greendrinks. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. at Portland Yacht Services at 58 Fore Street in Portland. What is Greendrinks, you ask? It's a a sort of periodic, informal, beer-fueled networking event that raises cash for environmental non-profits. Tonight's event is to benefit The Maine Island Trail Association (MITA). Admission (21+, clearly) is $5 if you bring your own drinking vessel. If yours breaks en route, your admission options become slightly more expensive: $10 for a corn cup or $12 for an "executive" pint glass. [FB]
ROCKLAND—Tomorrow night (May 15), from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., 3Crow Restaurant & Bar (449 Main Street) is hosting Chresten Sorensen, the owner and brewer at Bunker Brewing Co. in Portland, for happy hour. There's no charge to get in. Beer fans can grab a pint and chat up the nanobrewer, whose beers are on tap at a number of Portland-area restaurants. 3Crow will be the first Midcoast establishment to offer Bunker beers. OLD PORT—The Blue Rooster Food Co. on 5 Dana Street recently starting getting local, heritage pigs, which they are going "nose to tail" with, exhibiting some fine pork creativity. So far, specials have included Italian sausage, crispy pigs ears and a bahn mi sandwich with housemade ham and country pate. Check Facebook or twitter for the latest specials. [EaterWire]
