Last night's Portland City Council meeting offered a glimpse of what Masa Miyake has planned for his new/old location on Spring Street. In the application for a liquor license for Food Factory Miyake, the chef and his business partner, William Garfield, wrote they "would be serving food the entire time the space was open to avoid becoming considered a bar rather than a restaurant." There will be just 16 seats - 10 at the existing bar and 6 at a communal table - and the menu of "Japanese comfort food" will be available for dine-in only. The expected opening date is June 1.
