What To Eat At Hadlock Field, Home Of The Sea Dogs

2012_4_stadiumlogo.jpgAre you ready for baseball? Opening day at Portland's Hadlock Field is Thursday, April 4, with the Sea Dogs playing the Trenton Thunder at 6 p.m. For non-baseball fans, that's the Double-A equivalent of the Boston Red Sox opening against the New York Yankees; the Sea Dogs are the Red Sox farm team and the Thunder feeds the Yankees.
The advantages of seeing a game at a minor-league ballpark like Hadlock are many: tickets are cheap; there are no nose-bleed seats and goofy contests in between innings are all part of the fun. A Hadlock hallmark are the All-You-Can Eat Seats, 100 seats each game available from May 31 to the end of the season. These seats, in the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right-field, are modeled after the "Monster Seats" at Fenway Park offering counter top seating and are only place in the ballpark to catch a home run ball. For just $25, you get two hours of chowing down on hot dogs, burgers, pulled barbecue chicken sandwiches, the stadium's signature Sea Dog Biscuit ice cream sandwiches and sodas.
Here's a handy guide to the rest of the food options and where to find them along the concourse:

Third Base
Shipyard Brew Pen: The only place in the stadium to get locally brewed Shipyard beers, a range of which are on tap. Also serving sausage sandwiches, cheesesteaks, barbecue chicken sandwiches, burgers, subs and veggie burgers.

Kayem's hot dogs, Frito's chili pie, haddock filet sandwich, popcorn chicken, McCain's French fries, fried dough candy and peanuts, beer (Bud, Bud Light, Geary's, Shock Top) wine, soda, hot chocolate, Sea Dog Biscuits (the stadium's signature item: Shain's vanilla ice cream between two large chocolate chip cookies).

Home Plate
Oakhurst Milk and Cookie Stand (milk, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, soft serve ice cream), Slugger Suds Root Beer; Kayem's hot dogs, Frito's chili pie, haddock filet sandwich, popcorn chicken, McCain's French fries, fried dough candy and peanuts, beer (Bud, Bud Light, Geary's, Shock Top) wine, soda, hot chocolate, Sea Dog Biscuits.

First Base
Microbrew Stand offering pulled chicken barbecue sandwiches and beers from Geary's, Sebago, Baxter Brewing, Sam Adams, Harpoon, Red Hook Shipyard.
