Here's a look inside The North Point, the wine bar in the Old Port opening just in time for cocktail hour today. The creation of brothers Noah and Daniel Talmatch (who built the place themselves), it's dark and cozy, with artwork on the walls by their younger brother, Ezra, who passed away last year. Noah is the veteran restaurateur of the pair, and Dan is a former banker and IT consultant, who just returned to the states after 20 years of living in Norway. Ezra was the inspiration for The North Point, says Dan. "After he died, we decided it was time for the other two brothers to do something together."
The wine bar's menu is not yet online, but according to The North Point's Facebook page, it features "quality cocktails, cheese and meat plates, delicious appetizers, lite bites and hot pressed flatbreads." There are 10 Maine beers on tap; an extensive cocktail list and all wines are available by the bottle or glass.
