John Golden begins this week's Maine Sunday Telegram review by wondering "why certain restaurants even exist." Not a good start for Katahdin, the subject of the review, which left Golden and a guest "nonplussed" after an initial visit. A second visit proved better, though, and the restaurant salvaged three stars: "While Katahdin doesn't aspire to compare with the trendier places in town, it's definitely a good choice for a pre-theater meal and offers a sophisticated setting for solid dining downtown."
