New, 1 comment

Tao Yuan's Cara Stadler, the 2012 Eater Maine Chef of the Year, plans to open a Chinese dumpling restaurant in Portland's West End, writes Susan Axelrod on the Press Herald's Maine a la Carte blog. Stadler is targeting a spring 2014 opening. [Update: The restaurant is now know to be called BaoBao Dumpling House]

It will occupy 133 Spring St., where the West End Deli is currently located (next door to the upcoming Miyake Diner). The deli, which was once the main supplier of beer and wine for diners at the original BYOB Food Factory Miyake, will relocate, according to Axelrod.

Tao Yuan in Brunswick gained nearly immediate acclaim Stadler opened it opened it about a year and a half ago. It was originally just Tao, but a lawsuit from the nightclub chain by the same name led to a change.
