Banded Horn Looks to Raise Cash for Tasting Room

Banded Horn Brewing Co., which is currently constructing Biddeford's first brewery in the historic Pepperell Mill, has begun a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 to fund the creation of a tasting room at the brewery. The campaign began last week, and had 58 backers and $5,250 pledged as of 2 p.m. today.

Banded Horn founder and Maine native Ian McConnell is the former head brewer at the highly regarded Sixpoint in Brooklyn. Banded Horn will offer a variety of beer styles, from the traditional to the experimental. Here's what the website says: "We aim to prove that a single brewery can not only master traditional styles from around the world, but produce cutting-edge beers that defy traditional classification. Our ultimate goal is to bring people together. At Banded Horn, we take pride in the belief that a brewery should be regional, not global, and exemplify the character of its region."

Should the Kickstarter campaign not success, the brewery will still open as planned, but the tasting room will not be built until months in.

There are pledge incentive rewards from $25 (sticker, recognition on the website) to $5,000 (design and brew your own beer, plus the rewards from all the other levels). In between, there are rewards like t-shirts, pint glasses and a handmade leather drinking horn ($1000).
