Elevation Burger to Take Over Farmer's Table Spot

Elevation Burger will be opening its second Maine location at the current site of the Farmer's Table on Commercial Street in the Old Port. The deal was finalized last Wednesday. The sign was down and paint cans were open outside the restaurant today, so it appears the transformation is already underway.. Mark Caron, a co-owner of the Maine Elevation Burger franchise, said a late winter opening is likely for the burger joint.

The Virginia-based fast casual burger chain, with restaurants in 10 states and several Middle Eastern countries, opened a South Portland location early in 2012. It features organic, grass-fed, free-range beef and uses olive oil to cook its fries. It will become the third chain to join the Old Port fast casual burger scene since 2011, when Five Guys opened its first Maine location. Just two weeks ago, Boston-based b.good opened on Exchange Street.

The Farmer's Table, which focused on local, organic food, was opened in 2009 by chef/owner Jeff Landry. The space previously housed Mims Brasserie.
