Limerick's Gneiss Brewing Co. is Now Pouring

New, 10 comments

Gneiss Brewing Co. is the latest edition to the rapidly expanding Maine craft beer scene. Dustin Johnson's Limerick brewery officially opened its doors on Friday, though its beer has been available at a handful of spots in Springvale, Cornish and Waterboro for a little while. Gneiss tap handles should start appearing in Portland pubs very soon. The brewery specializes in German-inspired wheat beers, with Gneiss Weiss as the flagship. From the website, it's described as having "... a clean spiciness and creamy mouthfeel, without even a hint of cloying sweetness. We use American hops to help define the beer as a full flavored, easy drinking session beer." From the Facebook page, it appears that a weizen (wheat) stout and IPA are also in the works. The brewery is open for growler fills and samples on Fridays from 2 p.m to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m.
