Maine Cocktail Tours Serve Up Drinks And Local History

New, 4 comments

Maine has Foodie Tours (really?), Beer Tours and now, Maine Cocktail Tours, described on its website as "a 2.5 hour walking tour of historical downtown Portland with five stops along the way to sample some of Portland's most famous cocktail creations." The enterprise grew out of private bar crawls founder Noah Love led for groups over the last two summers; the first public tour will be in May. It will include some interesting history, such as Prohibition got its start here — a little known fact that anyone who finds themselves on in the Old Port on a Saturday night will find hard to believe.

Love is keeping most details under wraps, but did tell us that he's collaborating with bar manager Christina Klein of Sonny's. "The goal is ultimately to have a large number of bars working with us so we can constantly switch up the stops and vibe of the tour," Love said. "Looking even further down the line, I am hoping to add regular VIP Tour nights tailored to native Maine cocktail lovers to be able to visit five bars for samples of cocktails that aren't even on the menu - the more obscure the better."

The cost of the tours is $49 per person and Love offers discounted rates if you want to bring the family (children under 8 are free).
