Gather, "a casual place where families can eat food that is raised by Maine farmers and prepared by a well-regarded chef without busting their bank accounts," according to its website, will open at 5 p.m. today for dinner.
Owner Matt Chappell renovated a former Masonic Hall to create a contemporary space with an open kitchen and a 16-seat communal table in the center. Tabletops are reclaimed bowling alley lanes; farm implements and blueberry rakes provide rustic wall decor. Gather's chef is Chad Conley, who previously managed Masa Miyake's farm and worked in kitchens at Yosaku in Portland and Jean Georges in New York. A focus of the menu is Neopolitan-style pizza ($9-$13); burgers and entrees are $10-$22.
