PORTLAND — Just announced this morning, Bresca and Hugo's, both in Portland, are included on Open Table's Top 100 Fit For Foodies Restaurants list. According to a release on PR Newswire, "these awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia."
NEW YORK CITY — Clark Frasier of Arrows and MC Perkins Cove in Ogunquit is one of five chefs competing on Sept. 27 in Fire Up the Wok, an annual Chinese cook-off hosted by New Tang Dynasty Television in conjunction with its benefit gala, according to The Daily Meal. In Times Square, "each chef will work at a cooking station designed to replicate the architecture of the Chinese Tang Dynasty capital Chang'an." The other chefs are Julieta Ballestros of Crema in NYC, Antoine Camin of Orsay in Jacksonville, Fla., Chopped judge Maneet Chauhan and Malcolm Mitchell, finalist on Food Network Star.
PORTLAND — Author Michael Sanders and photographer Russell French have released a second edition of their chef-recipe cookbook Fresh From Maine and a new cocktail book with the direct title, Drinking In Maine. "The voices behind the dishes and the reflections on the business that IS food in Maine shine through," writes Kristen Fuhrmann-Simmons in her review of the books for Seacoast Online.
