Boothbay Region Chefs Get Set To 'Claw Down'

On Sept. 19, chefs from 18 restaurants in the Boothbay area will compete in the first-annual "Claw Down," a challenge to come up with the best "lobster bite" as a kick-off to the first Boothbay Harbor Region Restaurant Week, Sept. 22-28. The Claw Down, held at the historic Boothbay Harbor Opera House, will be emceed by Lynn Archer of Archer's on the Pier and the Brass Compass Cafe in Rockland, who knows a thing or two about lobster competitions—her lobster club sandwich beat Bobby Flay's on Throwdown. Judges are Meredith Goad of the PPH, Boothbay native Kelly Patrick Farrin, sous chef at Primo in Rockland and 2010 Maine Lobster Chef of the Year and Dane Somers, exec. director of the Maine Lobster Promotion Council.

For Restaurant Week, participating restaurants are offering special three-course menus for $24.95, excluding tax and tip.
