Chicago's Ryan McCaskey Cooking On Deer Isle

Ingrid-Bengis Palei, famed provider of Maine seafood to such chefs as Thomas Keller and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, has organized a dinner on Deer Isle to benefit the Island Culinary & Ecological Center. Chef Ryan McCaskey of Chicago's highly rated Acadia, a Deer Isle summer resident, will prepare a farm-to-table dinner using all local ingredients on Sept. 22 at Yellow Birch Farm's barn on the island. Wines are being handled by Chicago sommelier Scott Tyree, formerly of Tru. From Bengis-Palei's email:

There will be, charcuterie, pork from a pig roast which will take place on the farm earlier in the day and for those who are not fans of pork roasts, there will be an assortment of seafood and vegetarian dishes all served family style so that you can pick and choose.
The price for the dinner is $150 and attendance is limited to 36 guests. For tickets, email events@edibleisland.org or call 207-367-2416.
