'Affordable, Family-Friendly' Eatery Coming To Yarmouth

A September opening is planned for a restaurant in Yarmouth that "will cater to families who want to eat seasonal local foods at affordable prices," according to Meredith Goad on the Maine ala Carte blog. Gather is the name owner Matt Chappell has settled on for the 80-seat casual restaurant he is building in a former Masonic Hall - EM reported in June that despite protests from neighbors, he was successful in getting the 60-seat seating cap in Yarmouth's downtown lifted by the town council.

Gather will grind its own grass-fed ground beef for burgers and make its own sodas. The restaurant will have an open kitchen and a pizza oven turning out 12-inch, Neopolitan-style pizzas.
Gather's chef will be Chad Conley, a veteran of Hugo's and Yosaku in Portland, and Jean-Georges in New York City, who most recently partnered with David Levi - of the upcoming Vinland - on tasting dinners and cooking classes.
