City Council Gets A Sneak Peek At Menu For Eventide

The agenda for the June 4 meeting of the Portland City Council included the application by Hugo's to amend its liquor license - a necessary step to open Eventide Oyster Co. next door. Portland Food Map has the sketch of the floor plan, showing that Hugo's kitchen will be expanded into the new space, the former Rabelais Bookstore. The chalkboard menu - raw bar, charcuterie, crudo and other small plates, plus a few entree-like options "for two" - will change daily. From the letter to the Mayor and council from Hugo's owners Arlin Smith, Michael Wiley and Andrew Taylor.

Though Eventide will be associated with its neighbor, Hugo's, the oyster bar will be less formal and more approachable for an everyday diner. Our proximity to Casco Bay will ensure an ever-changing array of fish and shellfish, embellished by the lightest touch. Our menu will additionally feature cooked items, lobster rolls, chowders, and other familiar regional favorites.
