If you haven’t yet scored your tickets to Portland’s most-anticipated chef and restaurant event, better get on it – the 7th annual Taste of the Nation Maine is less than a month away. If the weather cooperates, the setting – Diamond Edge Restaurant and Marina on Great Diamond Island – should be spectacular. The food should be too, with a large lineup of participating chefs including superstars Sam Hayward of Fore Street, Steve Corry of Petite Jacqueline and five five five, Bresca’s Krista Kern Desjarlais and David Turin of David’s and David’s 388 (above).
Thinking you might spring for the $200 VIP “package” – an earlier boat to the island for a private reception before the main event? ? um, sorry, they’re gone. Whitney Bruce, who heads the Taste of the Nation Committee for Share Our Strength Maine says regular admission tickets ($125) are available, but as in previous years, a sell-out is expected. The evening’s proceeds will go to four local organizations working to end childhood hunger in Maine. For tickets and more: tasteofthenation.org/maine.
