Could Mexican be the fastest growing restaurant niche in Portland? The latest addition is Tacqueria Tequila, which will offer traditional Mexican food for lunch and dinner and a DJ and dancing in the evenings, according to owner Fernando Saldana's application for a liquor license, granted at yesterday's City Council meeting. Saldana also owns Hacienda Pancho Villa (right) in Brunswick. Tacqueria Tequila is going in at 249 St. John St, the former location of Sabor Latino. When it opens it will be the 11th Mexican restaurant on the peninsula, by our count, including one of Portland's two Margaritas locations, just a few doors away at 242 St. John St.
