Katie Capon is planning to move and expand her 12-year-old bakery and cafe, Katie Made, from its current small storefront on Cumberland Avenue in the East End to a larger space on Congress Street downtown, after the holidays. Capon told Carol McCracken of the Bangor Daily News that her business has continued to grow since her sister, Jennifer Capon, joined her in 2009.
The Congress Street location will permit the two to expand their retail menu [beyond the sandwiches they now offer] to include soups and salads. ... The new location will include display space for cakes, pies and other baked goods not currently possible because of space limitations. Seating for about nine will be available as well.Capon said she would disclose the specific location for her new shop after Thanksgiving, so her customers would not be confused about where to pick up their holiday desserts.
