PORTLAND — The Pour Tour made it's inaugural trip last week as a part of Portland Beer Week according to The Portland Press Herald. Beginning and ending at The Thirsty Pig on Exchange Street, the tour on the bright green Maine Brew Bus stopped at Maine Mead Works, Bunker Brewing Co., Tandem Coffee Roasters, Urban Farm Fermentory, Rising Tide Brewing Co. and New England Distilling. And hopefully, a bathroom. [PPH]
STATEWIDE — Maine Restaurant Week is not until March, but things are already gearing up with a contest and the unveiling of the MRW app. The "To Dine For Contest," entered via social media, email, Instagram or the app runs through November; a list of participating restaurants and other fun and fascinating stuff is on the website [EaterWire]
SOUTHERN MAINE — PPH's Meredith Goad interviewed 11 chefs about everyone's favorite food day of the year - Thanksgiving - and surprise, all of them cook for the day, even if their restaurants are not open. Except for Demos Regas of Emilitsa in Portland, who eats hotdogs from Minnesota. "We eat these special Coney hot dogs from my other son George's restaurant in Duluth. I'm not kidding. He overnights them to us with this phenomenal chili minced onion sauce. We love them. In a way, it connects our family by food." [PPH]
